My Education: BA, Economics, Boston College MBA, Finance, Bentley College
My Prior Experience: I have been in accounting for 15 years which led me into sales of accounting systems.
My Company: We resell Microsoft products and do some consulting.
Job/Career Overview: I call on customers and ask what their IT needs will be for the year. From that point on, I ask a Solution Matter Expert or another consultant to help out.
I take customer calls and attempt to answer their questions.
I create quotes based on a customer's needs and what they want completed. I call on customers to set up on-site visits where I try to sell our services and other products that we offer, including those of third-party vendors -- software that works with the Microsoft products we sell.
Sales typically involves working with all aspects of the company.
More Insights: Just really love what you do. You will be working 50 to 60 hours per week, which encompasses most of your week, so love what you do!!!

I rate this career 5 out of 10.
I love to work with the different customers, hear their stories, solve their problems, make them happy, and in the end, put money in my pocket! It takes hard work and dedication to work with a number of different customers, their personalities, and their needs.
The worst part of the job is working with members of my organization who don't understand my job and don't back me up. Accounting, for example, never helps us with invoicing or lets us know when cash comes in.
You have to be outgoing.
You have to be able to take rejection.
You have to sit and listen to customers' needs.
You have to work with your co-workers well and ask them for advice as well as give good advice.
You have to reward people within the organization for helping you out. It helps you out in the end.
